Location:
Slocan, BC, Canada
This picturesque small town is settled on Slocan Lake in the southeastern part of British Columbia. Here, the Slocan River starts and gently flows south through the Slocan Valley. The area is in the West Kootenay Region - between Vancouver and Calgary.
Several thousands years ago, Aboriginal people, members of the Sinixt Nation, occupied the valley. Archeologial sites are scattered along Slocan River and there are well preserved rock art pictures on the cliffs of Slocan Lake. But until as late as 1890, almost no-one else had even seen the Slocan Valley. That changed when the silver and gold rush brought an influx of inhabitants to the area. In 1901 it was a bustling place with over 1500 people and Slocan became Slocan City. It did loose this title in 1958. Today, approx. 400 residents call Slocan home and enjoy a rare respite from the frenzy of modern life.

"Come and discover the beautiful Slocan Valley"
About me:
If you would have told me in my younger years, that i would end up in a small town setting (like the one i grew up in Switzerland), i would not have believed you. But here i am. Very fortunate living in this valley since 2019. My love for nature, wildlife and gardening came back to life and nourishes me daily. A change in career lets me focus on my new chapter in life.
